Download the Tims App
Get the Tim Hortons app from the App Store or Google Play. It is free, and the Canadian version is separate from the US one — make sure your store region is Canada or the menu and offers will not match.
Create an Account and Add a Card
Sign up with an email address, then add a payment method or load a Tims Card inside the app. Paying with the card through the app is what lets one transaction both spend the balance and collect points.
Scan Every Time You Order
Open the rewards screen and let the till scan it before you pay, or place the order in the app. Points attach at the moment of payment and a receipt cannot be credited afterwards.
Redeem on Something Worth It
When you have enough points, redeem against the most expensive eligible item you actually want. The same redemption is worth far more against a latte than against a small coffee.

Tim Hortons Rewards — Tims Rewards on the app screen — is the only discount programme the chain runs in Canada. There is no card to stamp and no code to type. You scan the app when you pay, qualifying purchases collect points, and points come off against an eligible item later. Nothing is ever taken off the bill in cash, which is the detail that changes how you should use it.
Because the reward is an item rather than a discount, Tim Hortons rewards points value is not fixed. The same redemption is worth $1.59 spent on a small brewed coffee and $3.19 spent on a small latte. That gap of $1.60 costs exactly the same number of points, and it is the single largest thing you control. Aim at the top of the eligible list rather than the bottom.
Tim Horton rewards Canada operates account by account, not nationally. Your offer set is built from what you have bought before, so two people ordering side by side see different offers and neither is wrong. It also means points and offers cannot be shared, pooled or transferred between accounts, and that a deal someone describes online may simply not exist on your app.

Making Tims Rewards Worth Something
Before any of that: make sure you have the right listing. The Tim Hortons Canada app is a separate download from the American one, and installing the wrong region is the most common reason a menu looks unfamiliar or an offer will not apply. Search the store, check that the listing names Canada, and set your home restaurant once the account exists.

What does not qualify is anything bought through Uber Eats, DoorDash or SkipTheDishes, since those never touch your Tims account.
