How to Make Original Iced Capp at Home?
The Iced Capp is not iced coffee. Tims blends a sweetened coffee base with cream and ice into something closer to a milkshake, which is why it pours thick and holds its head. Freezing the coffee first is the part most copycats skip, and it is the whole difference between this and a watery blender drink.

Coffee ice

Method
Tips
- Coffee ice rather than plain ice is the entire trick. Blending hot coffee with ordinary cubes dilutes the flavour as it melts, which is why homemade versions taste weak by the second mouthful.
- Chill the blender jug and the glass. A warm jug melts the cubes before the blades have done their work.
- If it comes out thin, add two more coffee cubes rather than plain ice. More water is what caused it.
Variations
- Add 2 tbsp of chocolate syrup for a Mocha Iced Capp, which is 360 calories on the Tims menu.
- Swap the cream for whole milk to cut the richness, though it also loses the thickness that makes the drink what it is.
- Blend in a shot of espresso for a stronger coffee note without adding more sugar.
Serving Ideas
- Serve with something plain rather than sweet — a Plain Bagel keeps the balance where a donut doubles the sugar.
- For a group, blend one batch and hold it in the freezer for ten minutes rather than blending twice.

Original Iced Capp Questions
How much is an Iced Capp at Tim Hortons?
The Original Iced Capp starts at $3.99 and comes in three sizes, each with its own price and calorie count listed on this page. The flavoured versions cost more — a Mocha Iced Capp starts at $4.69.
How many calories are in an Original Iced Capp?
A small is 288 calories. The number climbs with size, and the flavoured versions add more on top: the Mocha is 360 calories and the Caramel Churro 415. Full breakdown in the nutrition panel above.
What is the difference between an Iced Capp and an iced coffee?
An Iced Capp is blended with ice into a thick drink you cannot see through. An iced coffee is brewed coffee poured over ice, so it stays liquid — and at 84 calories it is a fraction of the Iced Capp. Both are on the cold drinks menu.
Is there dairy in a Tim Hortons Iced Capp?
Yes. Milk is the one allergen Tim Hortons declares for the Original Iced Capp, and cream is what gives the drink its texture. Some restaurants will blend it with a milk alternative on request, which changes the published nutrition figures.
Can I make an Iced Capp at home?
Yes, and the recipe on this page gets close. The step that matters is freezing the sweetened coffee into ice cubes first — blending hot coffee with plain ice is what makes homemade versions taste watery.
